Blaugust – Day 16
Random Sunday thoughts
Slow news Sunday, eh? Yeah, not much to say today, as it has been quite a normal day – played some video games, gathered together with some friends for some local multiplayer madness and am now preparing for a night of gaming in FFXIV.
I often don’t quite process the fact that I have more games in my backlog than time. Sure I plan to play XIV since I’ll probably raid and will definitely do my Grand Company’s deliveries, but then I remember all the games I have to play and or try! The woes of living in an age where a Humble Bundle and Playstation Plus can bring a lot of games to you for a relatively small amount of money. Of course, the problem is time. Ever heard that phrase that plays with the concepts of age/money/time?
When you’re young you have all the energy and time but no money. When you’re an adult you have money and energy but no time. When you’re old you have time and (hopefully) money but don’t have the energy to do what you want.
I’m in that second phase there: I have the energy, and the money to get some games here and there (not EVERY game, sadly)… but with work and family it leaves only nights and weekends. And while this is probably a great exaggeration I can safely say that it doesn’t feel like it’s enough time. *sigh*
I did have some wonderful time today playing with local friends; we often gather on weekends to play multiplayer games be them cooperative or competitive. And we have a blast. We started this playing Mario Kart on Gamecube ages ago, and have passed by Mario Party, Halo, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Rock Band, Castle Crashers and many others.
Lately our drugs of choice have been the excellent Towerfall: Ascension and the insanely addictive Rocket League. Both have local offline cooperative and competitive modes and we enjoy our time playing them thoroughly. I highly recommend them if you have multiple friends that can come over and enjoy some crazy fun together.
Monday. You’re welcome
